GELEEN, The Netherlands – February 19, 2026 – Dyneema®, owned by Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, is collaborating with body armor manufacturer FEDUR, S.A., to deliver cutting-edge ballistic protection to Spain’s national police service, the Policia Nacional.
The four-year contract between FEDUR and the Policia Nacional covers the supply of 24,000 soft ballistic vests made with Dyneema® SB301, a third-generation Dyneema® unidirectional (UD) material that delivers unmatched ballistic stopping power while being lighter and thinner than alternative protective materials.
As Spain’s national police service, the Policia Nacional sets extremely demanding technical requirements for its soft armor vests. These include outstanding protection against a range of threats, including from handgun ammunition and knife attacks, as well as mobility requirements, including wearability and support for a slim, tailored fit for both male and female officers. The FEDUR vests made with Dyneema® SB301 check all the boxes, from excellent ballistic performance to a comfortable, ultra-light weight of 4.2 kg/m².
“This collaboration with FEDUR and the Policia Nacional of Spain is a great example of how innovation and trust go hand in hand,” said Marcelo van de Kamp, Global Business Director for Personal Protection at Dyneema®, Avient. “By using Dyneema® SB301 – the most advanced soft ballistic material available – we’ve met performance requirements that were previously considered impossible. Together, we’re setting a new, higher standard for ballistic protection.”
As the latest generation of Dyneema® UD soft ballistic material, Dyneema® SB301 represents a breakthrough in soft ballistic technology, combining superior strength with unmatched mobility. Through molecular engineering at the polymer level, Dyneema® created a higher-tenacity fiber that enables increased ballistic stopping power for protective armor applications. The seismic shift in performance enables body armor manufacturers to design soft armor vests up to 20% lighter than alternative protective solutions. This achievement underscores a commitment to innovation and safety for those who protect and serve.
As the only ballistic materials manufacturer to produce both its fiber and UD in-house at dual manufacturing sites in Europe and the US, the Dyneema® brand delivers supply chain certainty and performance consistency to partners worldwide. Because it matters where protective armor is made, local production helps ensure consistent quality and reinforces trust for those who depend on uncompromising standards.
Visit the Dyneema® booth at EnforceTac 2026, the leading trade fair for security and defense in Germany, to learn more about the latest advancements in protective armor solutions made with the world’s strongest fiber™, February 23–25 at Messezentrum Nuremberg in Hall 9, Booth 9-650.
